Spring marks the release of our third song this year - "A Melody, The Memory." This song explores and celebrates the magical way in which music takes us back to those memories we cherish most, almost as if to relive them again and again. Listen to "A Melody, The Memory" and make a donation to download the song here. We are extremely proud to share our song with you!

So far, your generous donations have helped us raise nearly $24,000 as we partner with Habitat For Humanity to help build a home for Rhonda Floyd and her three children. With your help, we will reach our goal of $65,000! Read more about our year long project and help us spread the word. If you haven't already done so, please make a donation and download all three of this year's songs. We are so proud to share our fourth new song of the year with you - "Night/Day." The song is a focus on the moment that is the transition from resignation to motivation, from the darkness of indolence to the new light of action. It is a statement about stepping forward, putting others before yourself, and making a true difference. Listen to "Night/Day" here at our website and make a donation to download the song!

With your support, we have raised over $30,000 this year for Rhonda Floyd and her family. The finish line is in sight and our goal is within reach! Please continue to give and help us finish Rhonda's house. Together, we can move mountains and make a miracle happen for an amazing family!

Mae Presents: (m)orning begins this Friday. Come hang out with us and our friends in Person L, Barcelona, and Tokyo. We can't wait to play these new songs for you and hear you singing along! Check out tour dates and pick up tickets here.

Today we are excited to officially announce that we are starting a brand new chapter in our year long campaign. We are calling this chapter (a)fternoon. Today we are able to proudly announce that, without the help of any record label or large corporations or sponsorships behind us, with only our music and your donations, we have fully funded a house for Rhonda Floyd and her 3 children. Last night was the final night of our spring tour, Mae presents (m)orning, and it was only fitting that we had Rhonda and our friends at Habitat For Humanity there to help us celebrate this amazing accomplishment. We have only you to thank. There are no words to express the depth of our gratitude and appreciation. These four months and this rest of this year are and will continue to be proof that through community and music, we can make a difference.

For the (a)fternoon chapter, our attention will be focused on education. We are excited to partner up with an organization called Donors Choose to help educators around the country get the materials they need to effectively be able to execute their curriculum. There are so many schools and teachers around the county who are having their budgets slashed, making it very hard for them to teach the way they want. The education of the country's youth should not be compromised due to issues they have no control over. Every child deserves and needs an education and we hope that you'll continue to donate and show the country why Mae fans are the best fans in the world!

Today we are also bringing you a new song called "Over & Over." This song is the first song that will be included on the (a)fternoon EP. Parts of this song were recorded all over the country while we were on our spring tour. From Omaha and Los Angeles to Pittsburgh and Chesapeake, VA, your spirit is all over this song. We hope you enjoy the song and we know this summer is going to be an amazing one. We encourage you to visit whatismae.com and make a donation. Download and donate here!

Our next new song of the year is entitled, "The Cure." The song is the second song from the (a)fternoon EP and it will be available exclusively at whatismae.com on the first day of summer, June 21st.

Today is June 21st, the first day of Summer, and we are happy to bring you the second song from the (a)fternoon EP. This song is called "The Cure" and it's a nice and lazy love song. We hope you enjoy its languid romance. While we are all still reeling over what we accomplished with Habitat For Humanity, this is not the time to slow down! We are proud to be partnering up with DonorsChoose.org, an amazing organization that employs a beautifully simple idea. With the mounting pressure on public school teachers to provide thorough curriculum, all the while having their budgets cut, DonorsChoose.org provides those teachers a forum online that allows them to request donations so that they can execute their methods of teaching to the best of their ability. How you can help is just as beautifully simple! By continuing to donate and download each new song, your monetary contributions will go directly towards those educational projects. Our goal is to fund one educational project in all 50 states and throughout this campaign, we will document exactly which projects are being funded and the difference that is being made in the lives of teachers and students all across the United States.

Please make a donation. When you are done, tell a friend to do the same. If you haven't done so already, grab the Mae widget from our website and post it on your personal blog, Facebook, or Myspace profile. Make a donation and download "The Cure" here!

Due to the compassion and support of the global Mae community, we have changed the life of a special family and proven that through music and a common goal, we can make a difference. We are so excited to finally have the opportunity to play our first ever show for all of our fans in Indonesia this coming Sunday, July 26th.  As we are sure you've heard, last week's terrorist bombings in Jakarta have sent a shockwave throughout the international community.  We have been inspired by the opportunity to show a generation of youth in Indonesia that terror is only as strong as the power that we give it. The great challenge our generation faces is to rise above this very fear. The terror that struck Indonesia last Friday is the same terror that struck our own towers in New York only a few years ago. As artists, this isn't just another show to play. This is our chance to take a stand for peace, for community, and for what is right. This is our chance to lend our voices and our music to those who need it the most. This show is a declaration of hope and friendship to the people of Indonesia.

We can't wait to share our experiences in Indonesia with you and we can't wait to see our friends and fans in Indonesia this Sunday!

We have some good news and some bad news. The bad news is that our July song "The Fight Song (Crash and Burn)" is delayed. The good news is that it won't be long before you're able to hear it. Check out a video update from Dave about the song and when you can expect it to be available at whatismae.com. Watch the video here!

Our new song "The Fight Song (Crash and Burn)" is coming to whatismae.com at 10 PM EST tonight, August 1st!   Get pumped and join the chat that is currently going on at Maeteam!

Jul 31

After a short delay, we are so happy to bring you the July song...in August! This month's song is called "The Fight Song (Crash and Burn)." The past week has been a whirlwind of the most inspiring events we can remember. We have just arrived back in the United States after having the privilege of traveling to Indonesia to play a show in Bandung. It was an honor to be the first international act to perform in the country since the bombings that occurred the previous week. The experience was mesmerizing and words can't describe the energy we felt. Despite tragedy, the people of Indonesia exuded a warmth and appreciation that was immeasurable, and it is impossible to not be moved by the interaction. Community and the ideal of global unity is continually challenged by cowardly acts like the one that happened in Jakarta so recently, yet the human spirit remains tenacious and undeterred, and continually motivated to become the rule, not the exception. Nothing is more eye opening than a humbling experience, such as the one we experienced, which reminds us of our strength and vulnerability simultaneously. We are blessed that we can use our songs to fight against terrorism, whatever reasoning it claims, whatever form it may take. Music is a paralyzing medium that transcends and can overcome any barriers that happen to fall onto our path. We are grateful to our fans and friends in Indonesia for giving us a time that we won't soon forget.

August will find us holed up in the studio continuously working on new music and preparing for the (a)fternoon tour which begins in September! Please check out the dates as soon as you get a chance. Also, if you haven't already, make your way over to Maeteam and join up! It's new and better than ever. We will be starting weekly chats this month, so get your questions ready!

Thank you for your donation! Please continue to be inspired, be creative, and most of all, be good to each other.

Aug 11

From now until the beginning of the (a)fternoon Tour, we will be holding weekly chats on Maeteam every Wednesday night at 10 PM EST. We are laying the foundation for a serious project with you and we need to hear your thoughts. We are hard at work in the studio working on August's song, "In Pieces." Check out a video update from Dave here and then make your plans to chat with us every Wednesday night on Maeteam!

Aug 23

Our final song of (a)fternoon, "In Pieces," will make it's debut this Friday, August 28th exclusively on whatismae.com! Watch a video blog from Dave recorded in the studio during the recording of the song here and join the countdown with us as we eagerly anticipate the release of "In Pieces." With your constant support we have accomplished so much this year and we have much more planned. Please continue to donate and download for every new song. Your donations are going directly to Donors Choose, an incredible organization that helps teachers across the country get the tools they need to help them educate their kids, so keep giving!

Aug 25

We are proud to announce that (m)orning will finally be available in stores and on all digital outlets on September 22nd. This release of (m)orning also includes a bonus DVD that features includes a 33 minute documentary on the first chapter of our year long charity campaign and the music video for "The House That Fire Built."

Aug 30

For the upcoming (a)fternoon Tour, we are literally "taking it to the streets" to make an impact locally in every city we will be in. We are partnering up with our friends and fans on Maeteam to orchestrate a community outreach activity every day. In addition to meeting up with our fans locally to serve their communities, after each show we will be performing acoustically for donations, all of which will go directly to the local chapter of Donors Choose. Our goal is to impact a school in every state in the country.

If you are not on Maeteam, sign up and start to create relationships with people in your region. Get involved in the forum and contribute your ideas about what we can do to make a positive difference in your community. We will work together, side by side!

We need your help! Once again, we are competing on Ideablob.com for a chance to win $10,000. Earlier this year, you helped us successfully win $10,000 which went directly to help build a home or a family in need in Newport News, VA in conjunction with Habitat For Humanity.

The current chapter of the Mae story focuses on education and helping further the experience that teachers wish to provide their students in the classroom. We are currently partnering with Donorschoose.org to help teachers receive the supplies they can not afford to make each educational experience fun, thorough, and priceless. This time, if we win, we will give all of the $10,000 to Donorschoose.org and to teachers in need!

Over the next two weeks, we will be asking you to vote for us on two separate occasions. Once to help us make the finals and once to help us WIN IT ALL! Please take a moment register and vote for our idea and help us make the finals! We love you so much and would never be able to do this without you. Let's show the world again why Mae fans are the best fans in the world!

We are proud to be partnering with The Road Home when we are in Salt Lake City, UT tomorrow (Wednesday, October 21st). The Road Home, formerly Travelers Aid Society, is a social service agency established in 1923 in Utah to assist stranded travelers, unescorted and runaway youth, and other disconnected persons. Today, the Road Home provides support and shelter for overcoming homelessness.  Their programs are designed to connect people with resources and help integrate them back into the community

We need your help and getting involved is easy.  Just come to In the Venue on October 21, 2009 and bring your item(s) for The Road Home's Christmas bags.

Items needed are as follows: shaving cream, weatherproof gloves, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, razor, toothpaste/toothbrush, chap stick, scarves/hats, curling iron, deodorant, socks, decks of cards, make-up.  Hygiene items should be full-sized!

We hope that you'll be able to participate.

By helping teachers receive the supplies they need to make the educational experience more fun, thorough, and priceless, we can make a difference in literally thousands of children's' lives! Nov 3

After a brief delay, we are proud to announce that our October song is finally online now at whatismae.com. Please check out the new song "Seasons" and make a donation!

"Seasons" is much different than anything we have released this year. It is a story about relationships in time. It is a dance between a day and a year. And it is the music of a birth, a life, a death, and a rebirth. It is about cycles that we experience in our brief stay here on Planet Earth.

"Seasons" is designed to be experienced simultaneously as sound and image. When you listen to the song, follow along with the digital booklet that is included in your digital download. Each image in the booklet coincides with a section of the song. As you listen to the song more and more, replace the images with those that you create.

Our greatest hope is that you have been inspired by our year long project in 2009 and that you make a commitment within yourself to be the difference you want to see in the world. That is the greatest multisensory aesthetic experience you can have; a life well lived and full of love.

Take this coming year and make your own story out of pictures. Use this song as your soundtrack and show us your world.

Nov 5

We awoke this morning in Philadelphia to discover that both our van and our trailer had been stolen from the parking lot of the hotel we were staying in. Needless to say, this was an absolutely devastating discovery! All of our instruments, equipment, merchandise, and many personal items are gone. This misfortune has fallen among many of our friends in the past and we suppose that after touring for 8 years this sort of thing is bound to happen. However, we will be finishing the remainder of the (a)fternoon Tour to the best of our ability! We have four dates left on our tour and will play the shows with the help of our friends in Deas Vail and Jenny Owen Youngs.

It's in these moments that our fans lift us up and remind us why we do what we do. We thank you for the immediate outpouring of love and support. If you would like to help us out, you can make a donation using the button below or by clicking here.

Hello all! The MAE camp is deep in reflection these days and thoroughly focused on the future. It would be silly to assume that our spotted interaction with you, our fans, would not be cause for slight curiosity as to what we are doing these days. Obviously, we experienced a set back last year which has slowed us down, although, but that is not the whole picture. The whole picture is more detailed, although, no less concerned with MAE and the promise we made to you last year. So far, since the beginning of 2009 we have released two parts of a three part picture, and this year we will complete the picture. We just released (a)fternoon in stores, with a DVD included, and later this year, we will release (e)vening, the last installment. Please go pick up (a)fternoon if you haven't done so yet, the DVD is pretty great. Meanwhile, stay tuned and look for a new song to be released on whatismae.com in May!

For the first part of this year we are playing some shows which can be found on our website. We hope that they happen in an area close enough for you to come out and have fun with us. In May, we will be part of Destination Imagination's Global Finals, which is the culmination of a years worth of work, and contest between groups of kids from around the world that compete with each other in events that focus on creativity, ingenuity, and problem solving. We're honored to be a part of it! Please check out the details at the Destination Imagination website. In addition to that, we also have some shows spotted here and there around the country which are listed on our website.

Although, what else is going on!? Well, lately we've all been able to focus on some of our own, more self indulgent, creative questions or desires. Jacob has teamed up with Andy Mellon and our good friend Brett Brownell and Astorya Entertainment to document Zach Bonner's walk across the country to raise awareness for homeless children. It's an amazing story and falls right in line with MAE's focus on community involvement. Dave has been busy in Nashville working with a band from Virginia Beach called Rekapse. He also has a few other production projects lined up and is looking for bands to produce! Keep tabs on what Dave is doing by following him on Twitter. Zach has started working on some music of his own with friends, he's also had his nose in books. Check out his blog to argue with him! The beauty of all of these individual projects is that they all enrich the experience of MAE, just like the individual can enrich the whole of the community. It's all part of the maze!

See ya soon!

Jul 12

Hey everyone,

By now, most of you have heard, but we're happy to officially share some wonderful news that we have been waiting to tell you for a couple of months.

2010 has been a year of reflection, reconditioning, and reconsidering what it has meant to be in this band for the last 8 years. We have come to some conclusions, we have asked questions that lead us to more questioning, and we have transformed into a brand new, old, new thing. In a phrase, what does this mean exactly? It means, "thank you." Thank you for sharing your world with us as we have done our best to be honest, creative, and true to ourselves, our calling, and our lifeline which is you. The exciting news that we have for you is the best news that we have shared in a very long time. Together, you and Mae have brought glimpses of hope to the hopeless, food to the hungry, clothing to the cold and tired. A home has been built for a family in need. These are all things that we are truly proud of and humbled as we look back and see what this band has been able to accomplish on this journey. Yet, through all of these feats, something has lacked along the way. Now that insufficiency is no more!

We are so pleased to share with you the return of Rob and Mark to Mae!

This has been a long process of searching, renewal, and repair and yet it is true. The Mae that you grew to love through our records such as "Destination: Beautiful" and "The Everglow" is back together. We are also excited to let you know that we will be touring for the first time in a year and touring for the first time as the 'original five' in over three years sharing with you an experience we'd like to call, "Goodbye, Goodnight." This reunion is something that is refreshing all of us in different, needed ways but it's also a chance for us to say "goodbye" for a while.

After this tour, we will be hiding away, embarking on new adventures, trying out life's opportunities as individuals with freedom and anticipation. In order for us to do this properly, we needed to "dim the lights" in the rooms of the house you and Mae have built together. Mae presents: "Goodbye, Goodnight." is exactly our chance to do that.

We would absolutely love to see all of you at a club in your city this fall for one more night together, one more "rock show." Since this will be our last run indefinitely, we are making sure to give you the show you've wanted for some time and the show that we've been eager to perform. We'll be giving you the opportunity on Maeteam to tell us your favorite songs from each album so that we may try to play all of those favorites. There may even be a certain record in our collection that gets played from start to finish on some nights.

Please, please, please come and join us for "Goodbye, Goodnight" so that we may thank you for the most incredible eight years we've had together. Also, bring a warm "welcome back" to Rob and Mark. They have missed you just as much as you and we have missed them! We will be announcing a chat on Maeteam in the coming days so we can answer your questions and tell you what to expect this fall and the months leading up to the tour.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Dave, Jacob, Zach, Rob, and Mark

-Mae
